The Beginning of a Global Short-Form Streaming App-Building Service, CODE CRAYON

Feb 23, 2026

Creating content and operating it as a service may seem similar at first glance, but they are entirely different endeavors. Even with high-quality content, connecting it to distribution and revenue requires various technical components, such as app development, a stable streaming environment, payment systems, and operational infrastructure. Separate from creative capabilities, these technical demands often become barriers—resulting in many cases where content never makes it to the platform stage.

CODE CRAYON was founded in recognition of this problem. Drawing on experience accumulated in content production and distribution, the company works at the intersection of content and technology. It has focused on enabling production companies and creators who own content to launch services without the burden of technical complexity. The goal is to ensure that talented creators are not forced to give up due to technical limitations. We met with Park Jeebok, CEO of CODE CRAYON, to discuss the compelling story between content production and technology.

Please introduce your company.

CODE CRAYON is a content-tech startup founded in 2021. The company operates at the intersection of content production and IT technology. It currently runs its own short-form drama platform, “Shortime,” where content planning, production, and technical operations are carried out simultaneously. In addition, the company distributes domestically produced content to overseas markets.

The company has also launched a B2B SaaS business that enables content companies to directly operate their own mobile streaming services. As long as they own content, they can launch an app without a dedicated development team and connect it to global distribution and monetization. By placing content at the center and lowering technical barriers, CODE CRAYON has expanded its business scope.

Please tell us about your core businesses.

The company focuses on three main business areas.

First is the short-form drama streaming platform “Shortime.” Shortime centers on short-form dramas and currently accounts for the largest portion of the company’s revenue. The business structure integrates content planning and production with platform operations.

Second is the B2B SaaS service known as “Shortime Studio.” This service allows content production companies to quickly launch their own apps using CODE CRAYON’s infrastructure. Once a developer account is provided, an app can be launched within a day or two. The service includes streaming, payment systems, traffic management, and subtitle generation features. It operates on a monthly subscription model, with additional fees applied based on usage.

Third is the IP commerce platform “Selectors.” This is an open-commerce platform where IP-based products such as merchandise and celebrity goods can be sold. It offers differentiated features from conventional e-commerce, including raffle-based sales and secret release formats. The platform also includes functionality to showcase products in connection with live broadcasts.

What are your future goals or directions?

CODE CRAYON aims to continue supporting creators and content owners so they do not abandon their business ambitions due to technical challenges. Domestically, the company plans to strengthen collaborations with production companies and distributors. Overseas, it seeks to expand services through trusted local partners. Currently, more than half of the company’s revenue comes from international markets, with significant contributions from the United States and Japan. In Southeast Asia, the company maintains a partnership-based operational structure.

Rather than directly operating every market, CODE CRAYON envisions a model in which content distribution and service operations continue through partnerships tailored to each region’s unique circumstances.

The company hopes to be recognized as one that thoughtfully addresses the challenges raised within the content industry and actively seeks solutions. Its long-term goal is to build a structure where content is well-operated and all participants in the process can share in the outcomes.
